Cavani is On Fire

July 2, 2018

Yesterday in Sochi, there were full of excitements as Portugal met Uruguay in quarter-final decider. Best defensive team so far in the 2018 FIFA world cup, La Celeste sunk Portugal ship (European Champions) 2-1 and progressed to quarter final to battle against mighty France.

Yesterday night was Cavani’s night as he claimed all 2 goals for Uruguay against Portugal. Early opener @ 7’ was a beauty as Cavani headed the crossed ball by Luis Suarez to the net. It was not only a goal but also reflected the great play synthesis of Uruguay forwards. Though Pepe’s header created an equalizer @55’ it did not last long against the Cavani’s side-footed kick @ 62’. Throughout the game FIFA player of the year, Cristiano Ronaldo tried his best to find the net, but was unsuccessful.

Overall match statistics showed Portugal had 61% ball possession with 584 passes ,whereas Uruguay had 39% ball possession and 266 passes. But those statistics could not justify the result of the match.
